MYC Translocations In Mature B-Cell Neoplasms: Single, Double, Triple and Quadruple Hit Lymphoma
Sabine Denzel, Tamara Alpermann, Wolfgang Kern et al.

Key Points:
  • Subclassification for mature B-cell neoplasms based mainly on cytomorphological features.

  • Large cohort of patients with mature B-cell neoplasms and MYC translocation with respect to phenotypic presentation and additional cytogenetic abnormalities.

  • CLL accounted for 20.1% of study population.

  • In CLL MYC was translocated to other loci/genes in 62.8% of cases unlike in ALL, Burkitt lymphoma and other mature B-cell neoplasms.

  • CLL showed most frequently single hit lymphoma (93%)

  • Abnormalities in addition to MYC translocation in CLL (13q), (del(11q), (del(17p) and +12 unlike other matured lymphomas.

Implications:

  • MYC translocations can occur as secondary events in CLL but different from other lymphatic malignancies with respect to translocation partners and additional chromosome aberrations.
